Adoptees often report that therapy can feel invalidating when clinicians are unaware of the complexities of adoption. Too frequently, therapists unintentionally minimize loss, reinforce harmful narratives, or lack the training to address adoption’s lifelong impact. This one-hour CE workshop centers adult adoptee voices to highlight what they most wish therapists understood. Participants will learn the essential knowledge every clinician should have when working with adoptees, including identity, attachment, grief, and cultural considerations. Grounded in trauma-informed and culturally competent frameworks, this training provides practical strategies to avoid common missteps and create safer, more affirming spaces for adoptee clients.
